When she turned 19-year-old, Annekei left her hometown, Denmark and came to New York to pursuing her music dreams.
At the beginning in 2002, she began performing in various venues in New York City. This young jazz and gospel singer have left her footprints in several famous places, such as Metropolitan Café, Rockwood Music Hall, Bowery Poetry Club, Blue Note and much more.
In the next year, she’d participated in an amateur singing contest TV show, “Showtime at The Apollo”. Well, she was able to move into the final and her masterpiece, “Close Your Eyes” has managed to grab some attention.
Three years after the competition, one of the famous Japan’s record companies, “Being Records”, had spotted her talent. Hence, she signed a contract with the company and released her first debut album, “Annekei”.
